1970's Fashion Trends Influence Sunglasses for 2015

By Georgia West, Published January 16, 2015

From New York to London and Milan to Paris, this season’s Fashion Month has provided us with a sneak preview of the hottest trends in 2015. Despite these cities being worlds apart, every collection showed us a hint of the 1970s trend. It’s all about the flower power this year as we see a modern take on the decade that gave us psychedelia and rock ’n’ roll as we know it.

Taking inspiration from the Rolling Stones, Saint Laurent incorporated silk scarves, leather miniskirts and suede jackets into their designs whilst Tommy Hilfiger stuck to the Sergeant Pepper era of the Beatles choosing fringing and florals for the catwalk. Spring 2015 welcomes a chic take on the rock ’n’ roll decade, so forget the frumpy frocks from the past and imagine a contemporary twist on the iconic looks and shades from this influential era. Be prepared to see subtle hints of the significant decade with flower prints, a slight flare, high neck, tassels and a little suede in shops this year. Experiment with all 70s styles, think artistic bohemian to flower power by day and glam rock by night.

When the sun begins to shine in 2015, integrate sunglasses into the 1970s trend. Wear oversized frames, brightly coloured classic Aviators or rock ’n’ roll tea shades like the John Lennon inspired Ray-Ban 3447 sunglasses.
